Cutout Pro sells AI photo and video editing in your browser, paid for with credits. Its own homepage describes the service as a way to “Create images, videos, and music with Cutout.pro. Edit photos, remove backgrounds, and enhance image quality for creative projects and social media.” This review covers what the site lists, what the credits cost, what happens to uploaded photos and which terms clauses deserve a careful read before you pay.

Everything below was checked on October 29, 2026, on the vendor’s own pages and on public records such as ICANN Lookup, and each claim carries a link to the source we read it on. We did not create an account, buy credits or upload any image, so this is a desk review of published information and not a hands-on test.

What Cutout.pro Is and Who Runs It in 2026

The exact domain is cutout.pro, which forwards to www.cutout.pro. The homepage footer says the project was “Founded in 2018, with a group of technomaniacs”, signs off “by Team LibAI” and gives a Hong Kong office at 6/F Manulife Place, 348 Kwun Tong Road, Kowloon. The About page credits the LibAI team as well and names no founders or executives.

The legal entity appears in the privacy policy, which says data “are strictly controlled by” WINROAD HOLDINGS LIMITED at the Hopewell Centre, 183 Queen’s Road East, Hong Kong. The site also uses a second brand in places: the business contact address ends in picup.ai and the X (Twitter) handle linked in the footer is ai_picup. Neither is hidden, but it helps to know the names before you see them on an invoice or an email.

Domain records add one more data point. The public RDAP record, readable through ICANN Lookup, shows cutout.pro was registered on 2020-08-24 through Amazon Registrar, Inc., with an expiry date of 2027-08-24. That is two years after the founding year the footer gives; neither the site nor the record explains the gap.

Lookalike domains to keep apart: cutoutpro.com (no dot) is a separate registration dating from 2006, according to its RDAP record. Its homepage gave no response when we requested it ourselves on October 29, 2026. Cutout.com is also an older, unrelated registration. Neither is linked from cutout.pro, so type the address with the dot.

The Tool Catalog on the Cutout.pro Menu

The homepage menu groups a long list of tools. The main groups are:

  • AI Image: Image Background Remover, Face Cutout, Retouch (remove objects), Photo Enhancer and Upscaler, Photo Colorizer, Blur Background, Passport Photo Maker and Image Vectorizer.
  • AI Ecommerce: E-commerce Auto Design, AI Product Staging and AI Virtual Model.
  • AI Portrait: AI Headshot Generator, Cartoon Selfie, AI Hairstyle Change and Virtual Try-On.
  • AI Video and audio: Image to Video, Video Background Remover, AI Video Enhancer, Photo Animer, Text to Speech and an AI Music section.
  • Ways to access it: the web app, an API, a desktop app for Mac and Windows, mobile apps and a Shopify app.

The menu also names third-party generation models such as Sora 2.0, Veo 3.1, Imagen 4.0, Seedream 4.0 and Seedance 2.0. Cutout.pro presents these as options inside its own interface, so check which model a given job uses before you judge output quality.

The API page describes “a simple HTTP interface” that accepts an image file or URL and returns an image file or Base64 image. It quotes “300M+ API requests per month, peaking at 4,000 requests per second” and “5000+ global applications, websites and apps”. Those are the vendor’s own figures; we found no independent source for them.

Removing a Background on Cutout.pro, Step by Step

The background remover page lays out a short process:

1. Prepare the photo. The page advises taking photos against a clear background, which gives the model an easier edge to find.

2. Upload it. Drag and drop a file or paste the image URL into the upload box.

3. Refine the cut. Use Erase and Restore to fix edges, then the Editor to add shadows, change the background color or photo, resize and crop.

4. Download. The page says you can download JPG or PNG results “for low-resolution photos or buy credits to download HD photos”.

For bulk work, the desktop app lets you drag a batch of pictures into a window and save the cutouts to a local folder. It asks for an API Key taken from the “My account” page, so the desktop route also spends credits.

Important: the free result is a low-resolution preview. If you need print quality or a large product image, plan on paying credits for the HD file, and read the deletion rules below before you upload photos of other people.

What Cutout.pro Charges (Checked October 29, 2026)

Every figure in this section is in US dollars, copied exactly as shown on the image pricing page on October 29, 2026. Credits are the unit: the page states “1 IMAGE = 1 CREDIT FOR IMAGE BACKGROUND REMOVAL AND IMAGE RETOUCH” and “1 IMAGE = 2 CREDITS FOR CARTOON SELFIE, PASSPORT PHOTO, ENHANCER AND COLORIZER”.

Free account: “Free previews forever”, “5 free credits”, plus the option to “Invite friends to earn 5 free credits”. The page labels this tier for personal use and evaluation.

Monthly subscription Price per month Price per credit
80 credits $5.00 $0.063
170 credits $9.90 $0.058
300 credits $16.90 $0.056
550 credits $29.00 $0.053
1000 credits $49.00 $0.049
1450 credits $69.00 $0.048

A Custom subscription is offered through a contact form. The pricing page also advertises a “14 Days Money Back Guarantee”, “Restricted to 50 downloads”, and says you can downgrade, upgrade or cancel any time.

Pay as you go pack Price Price per credit
30 credits $4.99 $0.166
300 credits $39.00 $0.130
900 credits $79.00 $0.088
3000 credits $199.00 $0.066
30000 credits $1399.00 $0.047

There is also a 5000000 credit pack at $37500.00. Pay as you go credits are described as “available for use anytime forever”. Video work is billed separately on the video pricing page, which charges per second of video and lists a 2G file size cap, 4K resolution and 30FPS. Its pack prices are displayed in two figures per row, so confirm the exact amount at checkout rather than relying on a summary.

The Shopify app listing has its own price line: “Free to install”, then “first 2 credits for free, then starts at $0.997 per credit, and as low as $0.14 per credit”. That differs from the website pricing, so compare both if you work inside Shopify.

Rollover wording to check: the pricing page says subscribers can “Roll over up to 5x your monthly credit budget”. Yet the Terms of Use, in clause 3.5, state “Monthly credits shall expire at the end of a billing cycle.” The two statements read differently, so ask support which rule applies to your plan before you buy a large subscription.

Cutout.pro Against Other Background Removers

remove.bg, Now Moving to Canva

The remove.bg homepage promises to “Remove image backgrounds automatically in 5 seconds with just one click”. It is a single-purpose service, while Cutout.pro bundles many tools. Its prices did not load in a readable form for us, so we do not quote them here. A banner on the same homepage says remove.bg’s background removal “is moving to Canva” and that the standalone website “will no longer be available from 1 December 2026”, so treat it as a short-term option.

Canva Background Remover

Canva’s background remover page says you can try it “with a limited number of free high-resolution downloads” and upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited downloads. It makes sense if your team already designs in Canva.

Photoroom’s Free Cutout Tool

Photoroom’s background remover describes itself as “Fast, free, and no signup required” and also lists product photography and staging tools, which overlap with Cutout.pro’s e-commerce group.

Where Cutout.pro Does Well

  • Public, itemized pricing. Every subscription and pack shows a dollar price and a per-credit price on one page.
  • Low-cost entry. A free account gives previews and 5 credits, and the smallest paid pack is $4.99.
  • Wide tool range. Background removal, retouching, passport photos, headshots and video tools sit under one login.
  • Several access routes. Web, API, desktop batch app, mobile and Shopify cover both one-off edits and pipelines.
  • Stated deletion of uploads. The privacy policy says uploaded images and videos “will be deleted automatically”, and the API page says data is deleted “after the API request ends”.

Drawbacks and Points to Question

  • Free downloads are low resolution. HD output costs credits, per the remover page.
  • Rollover terms conflict. The pricing page and Terms 3.5 describe monthly credits differently, as noted above.
  • Credits count when a result is offered. Terms 3.5 says a photo counts as processed when the result is offered for download “regardless of whether the Customer downloads the photo”. The same clause warns that more than 15% unsuccessful requests may lead to blocked access.
  • Refund limits. The money-back offer is “Restricted to 50 downloads”, and Terms 3.6 says the 14-day withdrawal right ends once the services have been used.
  • No stated deletion timeline for general uploads. The policy says uploads are deleted automatically but gives no time, except for face edits, where photos stay in the cloud “24-48 hours after you have last edited” and are processed by Amazon Web Services.
  • A recorded breach. Have I Been Pwned lists a February 2024 incident that exposed 20M records, as covered in the privacy section below.
  • A missing document. Terms 9.1 points company customers to a Data Processing Agreement at www.cutout.pro/dpa, but that URL returned a 404 page on October 29, 2026.
  • Marketing consent in the terms. Terms 10.1 and 10.2 say signing up means agreeing to promotional e-mails and to cutout.pro listing you as a reference customer; both can be withdrawn by e-mail to team@cutout.pro.
  • Few third-party reviews in one place we checked. The Shopify listing showed “(0 Reviews)” on our check date. The remover page claims “3M users and more”, which we could not verify.

Image tools raise a specific question: whose face is in the picture, and where does the file go? The privacy policy says uploads travel over SSL/TLS, are used only to perform the requested processing and are deleted automatically, while “usage statistics (without images)” are stored. Server logs with IP address, date, time, user ID and browser are kept “for no longer than 3 months”, and the site uses Google Analytics.

The Terms of Use put the rights question on you: section 5.3 says the customer guarantees it has the rights to process the uploaded photos. In practice, get permission before you edit photos of clients, staff or models, and avoid uploading ID documents unless you accept the retention terms. Section 3.8 also bans some uses, including generating AI training data, gambling and fake news. You can delete your account yourself from the dashboard under Account Settings, according to the policy.

There is also a security history to weigh. Have I Been Pwned lists a verified Cutout.Pro breach dated February 2024 that “exposed 20M records”, including email and IP addresses, names and salted MD5 password hashes, which it says were spread on a hacking forum and Telegram channels. We found no statement about the incident on the Cutout.pro pages we read. If you hold an older account, check your address on that site, use a password unique to this service and think twice before uploading anything you would not want leaked.

Our Verdict on Cutout Pro

Cutout Pro publishes clear dollar prices, offers a low-cost way to try its tools and covers many image and video jobs from one account. The points to weigh are the low-resolution free output, the conflict between its rollover promise and its terms, the missing Data Processing Agreement page, the 2024 breach record and the lack of a deletion time for general uploads. Start with the free credits, check whether the HD result is worth paying for and keep photos of other people out of it unless you have their consent.
